Direct foreign investment in the Great Jamahiriya usually takes one of the following legal forms:

• Contracts for construction of projects through registered  foreign companies branches.

• Representative offices for foreign companies.

• Establishment of Joint Companies under the Commercial Law and Law No. (65) of 1970.

• Investment in oil and gas exploration and production.

• Investment in Free Zones and Transit Trade.

• Investment in the fields of Industry, Agriculture, Tourism, Health and Services under Law No. (5) of 1997.
